Provided summary

Neither school nor home is an inviting place for top student Junyeong Yun. Like a stray cat, she wanders into the woods until she comes across an abandoned house, which proves to be the perfect place for her to study in peace. Well, it would be the perfect place, if it weren’t for the fact that she has to share it with the school’s notorious bad boy, Beomjin Kwon. Although the two seem worlds apart at first, in actuality, they are both lost souls who just might find home in each other…

Storys pacing

The pacing in Volume 1 is intentionally slow and episodic, mirroring the day-to-day routine of a student life. We learn a little bit about Junyeong Jun‘s life and daily struggles. Nothing big happens in the first part of the manga, but all the small details being slowly revealed keep you being hooked with the story.

Characters

Junyeong Jun is confident, mature, and intelligent. She prefers to avoid the typical teenage drama at school, such as debates over who is the prettiest girl or crushes on the school “prince”. Her communication style is always clear and direct, which can sometimes come off as a bit too blunt. In her daily life, she tends to suppress her emotions, almost robotic in her demeanor. However, in Volume 2, she becomes more relaxed and allows herself to express feelings, especially when she’s around Beomjin Kwon. Despite her cold exterior, her straightforwardness and determination make her relatable.

Beomjin Kwon has an attractive appearance that definitely appeals to me! He fits my type perfectly, not just in looks but also in personality. He will develop a clingy side, but it’s not in a creepy or possessive manner. His genuine nature, body language, and overall presence remind me of a big, friendly bear. He’s the kind of guy you just want to snuggle up to, showering him with kisses on the cheek and cuddling all day. Sadly, we don‘t learn much about his past or why he acts like he does.

Their chemistry grows naturally and intensifies as the story progresses.

As for the supporting male character, Na Seung-un, I can’t help but feel sorry for him. In Volume 1, he’s just a decent, nice guy, but by Volume 2, he starts to show some odd personality flaws. I understand that he is stuck in family traditions but he also never tries to change anything about his life. He deserves a different story and a more meaningful character development because he doesn’t seem to grow or learn from his mistakes, despite being smart and clever.

Artwork

The artwork contributes to the storytelling and reflects the lead characters‘ personalities through its beautiful illustrations and minimalist design, avoiding unnecessary details and overly bright colors.

I especially enjoy the minimalist backgrounds because they keep the focus on the characters.

My personal reading experience

It’s worth picking up for the slow-burn relationship between Beomjin and Yun, their incredible chemistry, and the gentle, respectful way they treat each other. Her personality really stands out because I never expected her to warm my heart as much as she did.

She rarely shows strong emotions through her facial expressions, but her actions and thoughts speak volumes about her kind and caring heart. After everything she has been through, you will understand why she is the way she is.

I would have loved to learn more about Beomjin’s family, his relationship with his uncle, and his overall background.
